Teddy Ramirez Hit and Killed by Car in Murrieta

37-year-old Teddy Ramirez, of Perris, was identified by the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau as the pedestrian who was fatally hit by a car Monday night on a freeway in Murrieta.

The pedestrian was crossing traffic lanes at around 9:15 p.m. on Interstate 215 north of Baxter Road when the accident occurred.

Investigators said Ramirez leaped a chain link fence and crossed into the oncoming northbound traffic, directly into the path of a Toyota RAV4.

The driver attempted to veer out of the way into another lane to avoid hitting the pedestrian but was unsuccessful.

Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Toyota driver cooperated with the investigators.

Authorities did not immediately determine why the victim was trying to cross the freeway.
