Deadly Multi-Vehicle Accident on 60 Freeway
Several vehicles collided, including a big rig, on Friday morning resulting in the death of one person.
The tragic accident took place on December 3rd in El Monte, around 3:25 a.m. on the westbound 60 Freeway.
Emergency personnel arrived and pronounced one person dead at the scene.
It is unclear at this time if other people were injured.
CHP is actively investigating the cause of the accident to determine liability.
Additionally, three of the westbound lanes were shut down for a period of time following the wreck.
In 2020, studies showed that the state of California reported 3,723 motor-vehicle deaths which was an increase from 2019.
In the U.S. one’s odds of dying in a car accident is around 1 in 107.
