Simon Lopez Lobato Injured in Yuba City Crash on Highway 99
Simon Lopezlobato, 42, of Yuba City, was injured in a fatal collision that happened in Yuba City on Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened on Highway 99 near the northbound on-ramp to the Garden Highway at about 7:02 p.m. on September 9.
The CHP said Arturo M. Bolanos Hernandez, 61, of Springfield, Missouri, was driving a 2017 Ford Fusion north on the on-ramp when he moved to another lane at a sharp right-hand curve.
The Ford was then struck on the driver’s side by a Ram 1500 pickup truck traveling northbound.
Emergency crews who responded to the scene extricated Hernandez from his vehicle. He was then pronounced deceased at the scene.
A passenger in the Ford, identified as Joga Gill, 42, of Yuba City, and Lopezlobato, who was the driver of the Ram, were transported to Adventist Health/Rideout Hospital in Marysville with complaints of pain.
A 12-year-old child in the Ram was not hurt in the crash.
According to the CHP, drunk driving is believed to be a factor in the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
