Santa Maria 4-Vehicle Collision Kills Motorcyclist

A Friday morning traffic collision claimed the life of one unidentified motorcyclist on October 8th. 

CHP reported that the deadly crash occurred on Highway 1 at Brown Road around 8:30 a.m. 

There were four vehicles involved, however it is unclear what led to the collision. 

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to to the crash and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. 

Identities will be released once there has been a notification of kin.

Investigators are also actively working to determine liability. 

According to statistics, approximately 80% of accidents involving a motorcycle result in injuries or death. 

Motorcycle accidents, according to the NHTSA, accounted for 14% of motor vehicle accident deaths in 2019. Motorcyclists should be fully aware of the safety challenges in which they face while riding on roads in California.
