Deadly Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-5 Freeway

CHP reported a fatal multi-vehicle accident in Santa Fe Springs early Wednesday morning.

An unknown number of vehicles, one of which was a semi-truck, collided just before 2 a.m. on the 5 Freeway.

The accident occurred within the southbound lanes for unknown reasons.

CHP issued a SigAlert due to the closure of lanes. Lane No. 4 was reopened around 4:30 a.m.

It was also reported that a man in his 40s unfortunately died at the scene. He has been ID’d as Christopher Prudente, 30, from Cypress.

Investigators are actively working to determine fault for the accident.

JT Legal Group sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Christopher Prudente.

Multi-vehicle collisions are typically more common in busy intersections or highways. Speeding, weather, distractions, and drowsy or intoxicated driving are main reasons negligent drivers cause these types of wrecks.

When it comes to filing a claim with this type of collision, it gets difficult. This is because multiple vehicles are involved so determining liability can take much longer. Multi-vehicle collision claims are more complex due to numerous victims, multiple negligent drivers, cross-claims and insufficient insurance.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation. In the event of a death, families may also be entitled to wrongful death benefits.
