Samantha Hoobyar is a Suspect in DUI Crash

Two charges were recently filed against Samantha Hoobyar after being involved in a DUI crash in Santa Ynez on May 21. According to the California Highway Patrol group, the 31-year-old Santa Ynez woman was under the influence of drugs when she hit another car.

The incident began when Samantha Hoobyar was driving a GMC southbound on Alamo Pintado Road in the Santa Ynez valley. At the same time, an Alfa Romeo was driving northbound.

The CHP said she failed to safely navigate around a right-hand curve and crossed over the double yellow lines. Her car went into the northbound lane and slammed into the Alfa Romeo shortly after 3:10 p.m.

A passenger in the Alfa Romeo, Krisanne Caciola, and an 8-year-old girl riding the GMC sustained minor to moderate injuries. Samantha Hoobyar also ended up hurt as a result of the Santa Ynez crash. Paramedics took them to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Alfa Romeo, 69-year-old Ballard resident Angelo Caciola, did not sustain any wound.

Meanwhile, CHP arrested Samantha Hoobyar on suspicion of DUI causing injury. Authorities charged her with misdemeanor willful cruelty to a child and special allegations of causing great bodily injury and injuring multiple victims.

Authorities soon released the woman after she posted bail. Records showed that she pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations.
