Man Identified in Fatal Pedestrian Accident
62-year-old Ruben Torres was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident last Monday in Tulare.
The man was in a wheelchair and crossing outside of crosswalks around 8:30 p.m. on June 6th.
Luciano Ruiz struck the man at J Street and Tulare Avenue and fled the scene after.
Torres was helped by bystanders and rushed to the hospital via ambulance where he sadly died.
Police later located the suspect’s vehicle and arrested Ruiz on felony hit-and-run charges along with driving without a valid license.
He is currently being held at the Tulare County Jail.
