880 Freeway Collision Leaves 1 Hurt

A GMC SUV and Kia Optima collided in San Leandro Thursday morning, resulting in a rollover.

Per CHP, the crash occurred just before 3 p.m. within the southbound lanes of the 880 Freeway.

It is unclear at this time what led up to the crash. The SUV rolled over, landing back on its wheels upon impact. 

It was also reported that a male part suffered a head injury as a result. 

The crash remains under investigation to determine fault. 

Statistics show that rollover accidents account for about one-third of all fatalities in the U.S. In  addition, 30% of vehicle fatalities are rollover crashes. These types of accidents are far more likely to result in a fatality than non-rollover crashes.

In the U.S. one’s odds of dying in a car accident is around 1 in 107.
