2-Vehicle Head-on Crash in Santa Barbara County

Robert Michaelius Brown, 22, of South Jacksonville, Fla., died and at least four others were hurt in a crash on Highway 154 at San Antonia Creek Road.

The two-vehicle crash occurred on San Marcos Pass Road (SR-154) around 1:24 a.m. on Saturday, August 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol. This is the second major crash at this location in August.

The drivers of a 2020 Nissan Altima and a 2016 Infiniti QX60 collided when the westbound Nissan reportedly crossed over the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic, according to KSBY.

Robert Brown was driving the Nissan and suffered major injuries and died on scene.

Meanwhile, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department transported five others to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of moderate to major injuries.

The 57-year-old Oxnard woman driving the Infinity and one of her three passengers both were treated for major injuries at the hospital. Two or three other passengers from the Infiniti had moderate injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. So far, it’s unknown if drugs, alcohol or other factors contributed to the accident.

Authorities do not suspect DUI was a factor in the crash.
