Pedestrian Struck, Killed on Highway 74 is Identified

Richie Thomas, 63, of Hemet, died in a pedestrian accident Tuesday night on Highway 74 between Truelson Avenue and Winchester Road in Hemet.

The deadly crash occurred at around 6:45 p.m. on Feb. 6th, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau.

Police reported that a driver struck Richie Thomas due to unknown circumstances, just west of Truelson Avenue, the report said.

Meanwhile, the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department sent paramedics to the crash scene and located the victim on the eastbound side of the highway, the Patch reports. However, despite efforts to save his life he died on scene.

Finally, the California Highway Patrol is heading up the investigation into the collision to determine fault for the pedestrian accident.
