Deadly Pedestrian Crash on Highway 74

Police are working to determine liability regarding a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred Wednesday evening.

The accident took place in Temecula on February 2nd around 6:43 p.m. 

Per CHP, the driver in a truck initially struck the pedestrian on Highway 74 near Taylor Road. 

Following that crash, the victim was then run over by multiple other vehicles within the eastbound lanes. 

The truck driver pulled over and called 911 for help but sadly, the victim died at the scene. 

Further details will be provided once an investigation is concluded. 

According to statistics, there was a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.

In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.
