Passenger Killed Near Lake Morena Drive in Campo, CA

One female passenger died after a suspected DUI accident on Buckman Springs Road early Wednesday, according to authorities.

Reports state that a 2004 Toyota Scion XA had two occupants while driving on the streets of Campo in East County. When the Toyota approached Buckman Springs and Lake Morena Drive, the driver careened off the roadway. The car collided with a tree and mailbox.

At around 3:30 a.m. emergency teams arrived at the scene and found the passenger ejected from the car. Despite all life-saving measures, the 26-year-old passenger succumbed to her injuries and died.

Meanwhile, paramedics airlifted the driver to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego where he was treated for major injuries.
