Driver Killed in Crash on 20th Street East 

A fatal traffic collision was reported in Palmdale on Sunday morning, July 17th. 

The accident took place on 20th Street East and Avenue R-12 around 4:20 a.m. 

Per reports, a northbound Dodge Durango collided with a Ford Fusion that was turning left onto 20th Street. 

Due to the impact, the Ford was pushed into a wall, resulting in the death of the 18-year-old driver. 

The Durango driver also suffered undisclosed injuries and was transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center. 

Police shut down the street for several hours as crews worked at the scene. 

An active investigation remains underway.

In 2020, studies showed that the state of California reported 3,723 motor-vehicle deaths which was an increase from 2019.
