One Person Airlifted Following Collision in Brawley, CA

A two-vehicle collision took place on Tuesday afternoon, August 3rd in Brawley, CA. One person sustained major injuries and was airlifted to the hospital immediately after. 

The crash was reported minutes after the 2 o’clock hour on Highway 86, near Austin Road. 

The two vehicles involved were identified as a gray pickup truck and van. Witnesses reported the van being at fault. The cause of the crash was due to the van crossing the center divider which led to a collision with the truck. 

According to Brawley Police Department, Imperial County Sheriffs were at the scene. Two Brawley Police Department Units and firefighters also responded to the crash. 

Due to one person being airlifted, the northbound lane of Highway 86 was shut down for a period of time. The victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center by REACH air ambulance. Their current condition is unknown. 

Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the crash as an investigation is still ongoing.
