Pedestrian Hit & Killed in Sacramento Crash 

33-year-old Oletha Durham was arrested on DUI charges and vehicular manslaughter following a pedestrian accident on Sunday. 

The tragic accident took place on January 2nd in Sacramento around 1:20 a.m. 

According to news reports, Durham was speeding through the intersection of Stockton Boulevard and Fruitridge Road prior to hitting the pedestrian. 

Sadly, the unidentified male pedestrian died at the scene of the crash. 

Durham reportedly fled the scene but was later spotted by rescue teams only a short distance away. 

Police arrested the suspect on felony charges, in addition to vehicle theft and leaving the scene of a collision. 

The crash remains under investigation. 

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
