Crash Claims The Life of Malina Golphin

Three vehicles collided in the Grand Lake neighborhood in Oakland on Sunday morning, at around 2:02 a.m.

Sadly, 34-year-old Malina Golphin died as a result of the collision.

The deadly accident occurred on October 24th in the 3300 block of Grand Avenue, just north of the Grand Lake Theater.

According to reports, Golphin was driving a Toyota Prius when she entered Grand Avenue from a parking lot.

In her attempt to go southbound, a northbound 2020 Audi Q5 hit her vehicle.

Following that collision, Golphin then collided with a 2015 Mazda CX53.

Sadly, Golphin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other passengers in the Prius were taken to a local hospital, one in critical condition and one with minor injuries.

Two of the women inside of the Mazda had minor injuries as well.

Additionally, the driver of the Audi was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The crash remains under investigation.

JT Legal Group sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Malina Golphin.

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
