Deadly 4-Vehicle Collision on Freeway in Lake Elsinore

Nicholas Lanni, 34, of Norco, and Gene Kittiko, 79, of Ontario, both died and three people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday night on northbound Interstate 15 Freeway.

The two men were identified by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s Bureau.

The traffic accident occurred at around 10:15 p.m. on March 6th, according to the Riverside coroner report.

Four cars collided in the northbound lanes of the I-15, just south of Indian Truck Trail, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The vehicles involved in the collision all had major damage and they were blocking two lanes of the freeway, the CHP reports.

The driver of a gray sedan reportedly struck the center divider and set off the collision with three other motorists, the CHP said.

Nicholas Lanni was found at the crash scene unresponsive. Despite efforts by firefighters to save his life, he died at the scene of the crash. Meanwhile, four people including Gene Kittiko were injured and taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment. Two hours later, Kittiko died at the hospital.

The survivors were a 27-year-old woman, a 30-year-old man and their 15-month-old son. They are being treated for injuries from the crash.

Finally, the California Highway Patrol’s Inland Division is heading up the investigation into the crash.
