Woman, 24, Struck and Killed by Hit-and-run Driver ID’d

Nelva Beltran, 24, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident late last month at Avenue 8 and Road 208 in Richgrove, Tulare County.

The deadly crash occurred at around 5:51 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28th at the Richgrove intersection in front of the Famous Cold Storage in Richgrove, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The young woman and her mother were both crossing the road on their way to work at the storage facility when the pickup struck Nelva Beltran. Paramedics from the Tulare County Fire Department responded to the scene and located the injured person, but they sadly died at the scene.

Witnesses told authorities they saw a dark-gray truck leaving the area, but so far police have not made any arrests and are searching for the suspect, ABC 30 News reports.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a 2007 to 2013 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab pickup. The color is possibly gray or like a gun metal blue, police said.

The family has a Gofundme account to raise money for the young woman’s funeral costs.

The CHP is heading up the investigation into what happened and may be reached at the CHP in Porterville station at (559) 784-7444.
