Local California Winery Owner Killed in Collision
Livermore Resident Mitchell Katz, 59, Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash at East Avenue and Mitra Street.
Mitchell Katz, a 59-year-old resident of Livermore, tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Avenue and Mitra Street in Livermore. The collision occurred around 3:20 p.m. on July 21, according to the Livermore Police Department.
Reports indicate that a black Subaru driven by a man in his 20s collided with a white GMC SUV driven by Mitchell Katz. Authorities believe the crash occurred while Katz was changing lanes. He suffered major injuries and was immediately transported to a hospital by paramedics. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
The driver of the Subaru, a Westley man in his 20s, stopped at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The police are actively working on the case to determine fault for the collision.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau has identified Mitchell Katz as the deceased. He was the owner of Mitchell Katz Winery in Livermore.
