Millicent Lewis Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision on North Gene Autry Trail near Salvia Road in Riverside County

29-year-old Millicent Lewis, of Escondido, has been identified as the woman who died in a triple-fatality crash that occurred on Sunday afternoon in Palm Springs.

According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the accident was reported shortly before 3 p.m. on North Gene Autry Trail between Salvia Road and Via Escuela.

Two vehicles had been traveling north on Gene Autry when they slowed down due to poor visibility caused by blowing sand.

A third vehicle failed to slow down and rear-ended one of the cars, causing a chain-reaction collision.

The driver and the two rear passengers of one of the vehicles died. Lewis was later identified by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office as one of the people who died.

The other involved victims suffered minor to moderate injuries.

Authorities do not suspect drugs and alcohol as factors in the accident.
