Victim of Hit-and-Run Crash is Identified as McFarland Man, 61

Mark Andrew Morales, 61, of McFarland, died two days after a pedestrian accident at Benner Street and Schuster Road near Delano.

The victim was standing at a mailbox on Schuster Road when two vehicles collided and one of them struck him, according to the Bakersfield Californian.

Victim Struck While Standing Near Mailbox

The two-vehicle crash and pedestrian accident occurred on Friday, Nov. 17th, according to the newspaper. A driver in a 2007 Cadillac was traveling north on Benner Street and allegedly drove through a stop sign at Schuster Road. The car crashed into an oncoming 2018 Ford at the intersection. The Ford’s driver lost control and hit the pedestrian who was standing at a mailbox and near the victim’s parked Chevrolet.

Paramedics responded and rushed Mark Morales to Kern Medical where he was treated for major injuries until he died on Sunday, Nov. 19th at 12:33 p.m.

Meanwhile, the driver in the Cadillac fled the scene without stopping to help the victim. Authorities are searching for the suspect.

Witnesses to the pedestrian accident on Schuster Road are being asked to contact the CHP’s Bakersfield offices.
