Mario Nunez Killed in 580 Freeway Crash near Eden Canyon Rd in Castro Valley
22-year-old Mario Nunez has been identified by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office as the man who died in a collision on the 580 Freeway last week Sunday.
At around 2:36 a.m. on August 27, the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a car collision on the 580 Freeway near Eden Canyon Road.
The Hayward man was reportedly standing outside a 2021 Ford E-Transit van when a white 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer veered onto the right shoulder and hit him and the van.
Nunez sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
The condition of the Chevy driver was not disclosed.
More details about the accident were not released.
