Jorge Guzman, 60, of San Bernardino, and his passenger, Mario Guzman, 47, of San Bernardino, both died in a collision on the Interstate 15 Freeway in Devore.

The men were identified by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner.

The multi-vehicle collision occurred around 3:49 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023, just north of Matthews Ranch Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The drivers of a white Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck, a white Toyota Highlander SUV and a third vehicle were involved. They collided in the middle lanes when one motorist slammed into the back of another vehicle on the northbound I-15. The second vehicle became engulfed in flames during the collision.

Police responded and issued a SigAlert around 4:10 a.m. due to all lanes being closed due to the crash. Also, paramedics responded and located two people with fatal injuries. A man from the Highlander suffered a broken shoulder and told 911 operators he had two dogs in his vehicle.

Meanwhile, tow trucks removed all three vehicles for evidence.

Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the fatal 15 Freeway crash in San Bernardino.
