Margarito Castro Killed in Hit-and-run Pedestrian Accident State Street in San Jacinto

Margarito Castro, 31 of San Jacinto, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident Sunday night at State Street and Dillon Avenue in San Jacinto.

Later, police arrested the driver, Savaughn Jojuan Colon Barnes, 21, of Hemet, on suspicion of a hit-and-run after he reportedly left the scene without stopping to help the victim. , according to The Patch.

The San Jacinto man was standing with his bicycle at the intersection about 8:21 p.m. crash on Sunday, Dec. 4th when the driver reportedly struck him, according to the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station.

Deputies responded and found Margarito Castro lying in the roadway, but the driver involved was not at the scene, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Witnesses reported the Hemet man was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when he allegedly struck the victim and the center median.

Sadly, the pedestrian with the bicycle died at the scene, police said.
