Woman, 72, Struck by Hit-and-run Driver in Fatal Crash

Mara Delaney, 72, of Santa Rosa, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident Wednesday afternoon on Seminary Avenue in East Oakland.

The Santa Rosa woman had just left a friend’s home in the area and was on her way to a nearby bus stop around 7:30 a.m. when a driver struck her, The Mercury News reports.

Authorities say she was found by maintenance workers deceased at around 1:07 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27th next to a fence in the 3600 block of Seminary Avenue.

Investigators also found skid marks coming from the southbound lanes of Seminary Avenue and leading to the location where where was found.

Additionally, police were able to locate video surveillance footage revealing a driver in a white Ford F-150 pickup truck was the suspected hit-and-run motorist.

Investigators continue to work on the case in an effort to find the suspect.
