Man Fatally Struck by Car in Long Beach

A fatal Long Beach pedestrian accident happened early Friday morning at East Seventh Street and Rose Avenue.

The collision occurred about 3:20 a.m. on Nov. 17th near Luther Burbank Elementary School, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

A driver in a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer heading west on Seventh Street struck the man as he crossed the roadway due to unknown circumstances.

Police responding to the scene found the victim lying in the westbound lanes of Seventh Street.

Paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department came to help the injured man, but sadly he died at the scene. They did not identify him pending notification of his family members.

The 23-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi stopped and is cooperating with police.

Investigators are working on the case to determine if speed is a possible factor, but they ruled out distracted and impaired driving.
