Suspect, Santos Lopez-Rosales, Sought by Police for Hit-and-run Crash
Leopoldo Padilla Mondragon, 65, of Laguna Hills, died in a hit-and-run crash while riding a bicycle on Riverside Avenue in Rialto.
The deadly crash occurred at around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7th, according to the Orange County Register.
Suspect Santos Lopez-Rosales, 46, of San Bernardino, allegedly struck the Laguna Hills man as he was riding a bicycle southbound in the second lane of Riverside Avenue near Santa Ana Avenue. Police believe that the suspect was driving a Hyundai sedan when he allegedly crashed into the back of the bicycle, knocking down Leopolo Mondragon, the report said.
The driver then fled the scene without stopping to help the injured man who died at the scene.
The Rialto Police Department later located the suspect’s vehicle in Bloomington and issued an arrest warrant for Santos Lopez-Rosales.
