Man Killed in Crash on Highway 273 is Identified

Joseph Charles Landreth, 54, of Redding, died Friday following a pedestrian accident on Highway 273 at Girvan Road in Redding.

The deadly crash occurred on State Route 273 around 6:15 a.m. on Sept. 8th, according to ABC 7 News.

A 25-year-old Anderson man was traveling northbound on Highway 273 in a Toyota 4-Runner SUV. The motorist reportedly saw the victim wearing dark clothing standing in the left-hand turn lane. The driver made attempts to brake and avoid the man, but he was unable to.

Paramedics responded and rushed the injured man to Mercy Hospital for treatment of major injuries, but Joseph Landreth later died from his injuries.

Meanwhile, the Redding Police Department is heading up the investigation into liability for the crash.
