Juan Vasquez Arrested on DUI Charge Resulting in Death 

36-Year-Old Jacob Stanley was hit and killed by a drunk driver on early Saturday morning in Las Vegas. 

According to reports, Juan Vasquez, 31, was driving eastbound before he struck Stanley along the roadway. 

The incident happened at the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Commercial Center Drive on December 4th just before 1:00 a.m. 

Despite life-saving measures, Stanley unfortunately died at the scene. 

The driver showed signs of impairment following the crash and was booked into the Clark County Detention Center. 

Authorities also shut down the area for a period of time for cleanup and investigation purposes.

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
