Ortega Highway Two-Vehicle Collision

A head-on collision occurred on Ortega Highway near the Ortega Oaks Candy Store on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred at 5:08 a.m. December 16th, per CHP.

According to reports, a female driver in a Honda Fit was traveling westbound before veering into the eastbound lane.

As a result, she collided with an oncoming Jeep head-on, causing the Jeep to exit the roadway.

The Honda ended up facing the wrong way in the eastbound lanes.

In addition, the male driver of the Jeep complained of chest pain and was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment.

It is unknown whether or not the woman driver sustained injuries.

Authorities also issued a SigAlert after closing down traffic lanes in both directions for a period of time.

Tow trucks were also needed to remove both of the damaged vehicles.

The crash remains under investigation.

Head-on collisions are without a doubt the most dangerous types of crashes. They may only account for 2% of accidents, however they make up 10% of all deadly crashes.

In addition, according to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation. In the event of a death, families may also be entitled to wrongful death benefits.
