Pickup Truck Drops Mattress on Highway 74, Leads to Crash
Multiple vehicles were involved in a head-on collision that occurred in Lake Elsinore on Wednesday afternoon.
Per CHP, a Dodge Ram pickup was hauling a trailer that dropped a mattress which set off the collision.
Following the mattress falling, a Kia sedan and Toyota van collided. In addition, the pickup driver did not stop and fled the scene at a high speed eastbound.
The collision occurred just before 3 p.m. on January 26th on Highway 74.
Due to the impact, a 5-year-old child sustained unspecified injuries.
Paramedics were sent by CAL Fire to render aid to those with injuries; however, the extent and number of those injured is unknown at this time.
One vehicle also required a tow truck to be removed from the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.

- Get vehicle to safety if it is moveable, if it is not, put on hazards

- Call 911 to report accident – they determine who was at fault
