Gregorio Dominguez Killed In Head-On Crash

Gregorio Dominguez, 65, of Guadalupe, has been identified as the man who was killed in a crash in Santa Maria early Monday morning, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

The two-car accident took place on Highway 166 west of Bonita School Road at about 1:38 a.m. December 25.

The CHP said that a man was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry east on Highway 166 when he went across the double yellow lines and crashed head-on into an oncoming 2001 Infinity I30 driven by Dominguez.

Dominguez was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The other driver, Bladimir Agustin Chavez, 27, of Santa Maria, was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Chavez was also arrested on charges including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing injury, driving with a blood alcohol content above 0.08%, and driving without a license.

The CHP is investigating the wreck.
