4 Pepperdine Students Killed in Crash Identified
Fraser Michael Bohm, 22, of Malibu, was arrested after he allegedly struck and killed four young women Tuesday night in a crash on PCH in Malibu.
The Malibu man was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, but he was later released from custody at around 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Four female Pepperdine University students died in the crash. They have been identified as Niamh Rolston, 20, Peyton Stewart, 21, Asha Weir, 21, and Deslyn Williams, 21.
The young women were reportedly standing along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), near La Costa Beach. The deadly crash occurred in the 21500 block of the PCH around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 17th, according to KTLA 5 News. The students who died were all enrolled at Pepperdine’s Seaver College of Liberal Arts.
Malibu Crash on PCH
Fraser Bohm was driving a black BMW westbound on PCH when he reportedly sideswiped a three parked cars, lost control of his vehicle and crashed. The young women were walking in the area just south of the Malibu pier and were struck by the vehicle as it crashed.
Two other people were also injured in the crash and transported to a hospital.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department closed down all lanes of Pacific Coast Highway and issued a SigAlert as they conducted an investigation into what happened. Preliminary findings indicate that speed is a factor in the fatal Malibu crash on PCH.
Meanwhile, police arrested the driver of the BMW and they are working to determine if speed racing, alcohol and or drugs were a factor.
Finally, witnesses to the crash or anyone with information or video footage of the crash, are asked to contact investigators at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station at 818-878-1808.
