Highway 74 Collision Leaves 1 Dead
A head-on collision left one person dead in Temecula on Sunday, August 28th.
CHP reported that a Toyota Tacoma and Ford F-250 crashed on Highway 74 at about 2:23 p.m.
A third vehicle may have also been involved in the collision.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
One unidentified party sadly died as a result. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
Head-on collisions are without a doubt the most dangerous types of crashes. They may only account for 2% of accidents, however they make up 10% of all deadly crashes.
The Fatal Analysis Reporting System (FARS) has found that:
- 75% of head-on crashes happen in rural areas
- They are most common on two-lane highways
- Failure in negotiating a curve on the road causes 23% of all fatal head-on collisions
- 58% of head-on collisions result in a fatality
