Rider Killed in Collision Near Gilman Street Onramp

A motorcyclist died following a road accident that occurred on Interstate Highway 80 Thursday, the CBS News reported.

Our sources indicated a man riding a motorbike collided with one or more vehicles in the westbound side of the highway just past the Gilman Street onramp. The description of the vehicles involved in the wreck have not been revealed thus far.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the site. Responding paramedics found the rider lying in the roadway. Despite life-saving measures performed by paramedics, the victim sadly succumbed to their injuries and passed away. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, no immediate information was available on the conditions of other parties involved in the wreck.

Police closed the three lanes of the freeway to give way to the investigation process. At this time, detectives continue to work to determine the precise cause of the fatal crash that happened on Highway 80 in Berkeley.
