Fatal DUI Crash in Ventura Near Victoria Avenue

One person was killed and two others sustained injuries following a DUI crash in Ventura. The fatal accident happened on Highway 101 near Victoria Avenue.

According to The Ventura County Star and KVTA News, the crash happened Sunday morning at around 4:20 a.m.

The collision started when a Nissan Sentra, traveling south on Highway 101, spun out of control and veered off the right side of the freeway.

The CHP group said the Nissan plunged 40-50 feet down an embankment and rolled over multiple times. The female passenger in the Nissan was ejected due to the impact of the crash.

When emergency crew arrived, they pronounced a victim dead at the scene. Another female occupant sustained major injuries and was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Nissan –– a man in his early 20s — was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities believe the motorist was under the influence when he crashed the vehicle. The man was arrested on suspicion of a felony DUI offense.

The crash is still under investigation.
