One Dead, One Arrested After Crash

Evelyn Ortega Solis, 21, died early Tuesday after a multi-vehicle crash on Olympic Boulevard in the unincorporated East Los Angeles area.

The deadly crash occurred at around 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 26th near East Olympic Boulevard and South Vancouver Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police reported a driver in an eastbound Chrysler was allegedly speeding before crashing into a Toyota and both vehicles crashed into five others that were parked on Olympic Boulevard, police said.

A pickup truck landed on top of another truck and one car overturned onto its roof. The 21-year-old woman was riding as a passenger in the Chrysler and sustained major injuries before she died on scene. She was later identified as Evelyn Ortega Solis, according to Fox 11 News.

Meanwhile, both drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries and at least one was transported to a hospital.

Police arrested the male driver of the Chrysler after the collision, but there are no further details.

Authorities are working on the case and conducting a full traffic investigation.
