Menifee Man, 57, Struck, Killed in Crash
Eliazar Garcia, 57, of Menifee, was killed in a pedestrian accident early Friday morning at Menifee Road and Wickered Road in Menifee.
The collision occurred around 4:20 a.m. on August 4th, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner Department.
A driver in a pickup truck struck the victim as he was walking in the middle of the roadway due to unknown circumstances, according to a report by The Patch.
The Menifee Police Department responded to the scene and located the victim in the southbound lanes of the roadway and the driver of the Dodge Ram pickup truck stopped nearby. The driver reportedly called 911 to report the deadly crash and told authorities they did not see the man.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department sent paramedics to help the injured man, but unfortunately he died at the scene. He was later identified by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner.
Investigators do not suspect alcohol or drugs were a factor for the motorist.
Meanwhile, there is an autopsy scheduled for the victim to determine the cause of death.
