74-Year-Old Pedestrian Critically Injured 

A pedestrian accident resulted in major injuries on Sunday, November 28th in Ventura. 

The incident occurred just after 6:00 p.m. in the 200 block of Thompson Boulevard at Figueroa Street. 

According to reports, a 74-year-old unidentified woman was crossing eastbound when a vehicle struck her while backing out of a parking lot. 

Upon impact, the woman ended up pinned underneath the vehicle and was extricated by emergency responders. 

She is currently in critical condition.

The involved driver stopped at the scene and was fully cooperative with authorities. 

The accident remains under investigation. 

According to statistics, there was a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.

In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.
