Bakersfield and Tijuana Man ID’d in Fatal DUI Collision
Two men died in a traffic collision on Sunday night in Taft, California.
It was around 9:00 p.m. when the accident occurred at Wood Street and Highway 33.
The men have been identified as Edgar Eduardo Herrera Garcia, 35, of Bakersfield and Sergio Andres Lopez Mata, 46, of Tijuana.
Both were passengers in a car that collided with a big rig under unclear circumstances.
There were also two others that suffered major injuries as a result.
Additionally, the driver of the car, Flurencio Martinez, was drunk at the time of the accident. He was arrested on vehicular manslaughter and felony drunk driving charges.

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol.
