Rider Injured in Barrio Logan on Harbor Drive
A suspected drunk driver in a Nissan Versa collided with a motorcyclist as it was making a left turn on Wednesday evening.
The collision took place on Harbor Drive in Barrio Logan, which is in San Diego County.
Per reports, it occurred around 5 p.m. on December 15th.
Upon impact, the 24-year-old motorcyclist was ejected from his bike.
The male rider also suffered a broken leg and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
In addition, authorities arrested the 41-year-old driver on suspicion of DUI.
The crash remains under investigation.
According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
