Woman, 67, Fatally Injured in Car Accident
Dena Friedman Van Slyke, 67, of Idyllwild, died in a multi-vehicle crash on the Interstate 15 Freeway in Escondido.
The three-vehicle collision occurred around 5:48 p.m. on June 24th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office.
The woman was riding as a passenger in a Subaru driven by her husband. The couple was heading northbound on the I-15 Freeway. Meanwhile, a driver in a northbound Mercedes Benz veered across multiple traffic lanes and hit the Subaru near the Camino Del Rey overcrossing. Subsequently, the Subaru collided with a Tesla and both cars went off the freeway and down an embankment, the report said. The Subaru overturned multiple times before it landed on its right side.
Someone called 911 to report the collision and paramedics attempted life-saving measures on Dena Friedman Van Slyke, but sadly she died at 6:27 p.m. at the scene.
The case remains under investigation by Oceanside California Highway Patrol detectives.
