Traffic Collision on Green Valley Road and Pennsylvania Drive
A fatal car crash claimed the life of two unidentified people in Watsonville on Saturday night.
Police reported that a Nissan Sentra was speeding before running a red light at the intersection of Green Valley Road and Pennsylvania Drive.
As a result, the Nissan collided with a Chevy pickup and a Honda.
Sadly, the 20-year-old driver of the Nissan died at the scene.
In addition, a 16-year-old passenger also died after being transported to a local hospital.
A passenger of the Nissan also suffered injuries and was hospitalized. They are expected to be okay.
No injuries were reported from the drivers of the Chevy or Honda.
The crash remains under investigation.
Statistics from 2019 show that 846 people were killed in crashes that involved running a red light and about 143,000 people were injured.
