One Dead and One Injured on Victoria Street and Placentia Avenue 

A truck crashed into a traffic pole on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of one unidentified person in Costa Mesa. 

The fatal accident occurred on January 4th at 11:26 p.m. on Victoria Street and Placentia Avenue. 

Per reports, a truck was driving eastbound before hitting the pole for unknown reasons. 

As a result, the truck overturned and became engulfed in flames. 

A pedestrian nearby was also hit due to the impact and unfortunately died at the scene. 

The driver of the truck also suffered unspecified injuries and was taken to a local hospital. 

In addition, authorities shut down all lanes of Victoria Street for a period of time for investigation purposes. 

At this time it is unclear what led up to the collision. 

Further details will be provided once an investigation is concluded.
