Darrell Ellis Killed in Accident on Arrow Highway in Covina

The driver killed in a multi-vehicle collision near Covina on Monday night has been identified as Darrell Ellis, 58, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

The incident took place on Arrow Highway east of Barranca Avenue at about 9:20 p.m. November 27.

CHP said Ellis was driving an Audi A4 westbound on Arrow Highway when he went into the eastbound lanes and collided with a Mazda 3 and a Hyundai Accent.

Ellis was pulled out of the Audi before it burst into flames.

Authorities said Ellis died following the crash.

The driver of the Mazda, a 32-year-old El Monte woman, had complaints of pain. A passenger in her car, a 17-year-old girl, was not hurt.

The operator of the Hyundai, a 39-year-old Pomona woman, had major injuries and was taken to the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.

According to the report, alcohol and drugs were not suspected in the incident.

The crash is under investigation.
