2 Killed in Rollover Crash; Driver Arrested DUI Charges
Leilani Romayor-Bettencourt, 23, and Danny Reyes, 28, both of Turlock, died in a rollover crash on New Year’s Day on Lake Road in Stanislaus County.
Additionally, Amber Sauls, 21, of Oakdale, sustained major injuries in the solo-vehicle collision at 3:45 a.m. on Jan. 1st, according to the Turlock Journal.
Driver Loses Control of Car on Lake Road
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle, Issac Urbeana, 23, of La Grange was arrested on DUI charges after the fatal collision near the Turlock Lake State Recreation Area.
The four people were riding together in a 2017 Toyota sedan that was heading west on Lake Road, just east of Roberts Ferry Road. The driver reportedly lost control of the car at a curve in the roadway and the vehicle went off the road and overturned.
Both backseat passengers, identified as Leilani Romayor-Bettencourt and Danny Reyes, were reportedly unrestrained and thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The young woman is survived by her 4-year-old daughter, Labella Love, and one-year-old son, Stephen Avery, according to a Gofundme page created to help the family.
Two Injured in Crash; Driver Faces DUI Charges
The 21-year-old Oakdale woman in the front seat was taken to the hospital with major injuries and the driver was treated for minor injuries. Both of them were apparently wearing their seatbelts.
Furthermore, authorities investigating the crash determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
