Woman, 69, Struck, Killed on 5th Street in Coronado is Identified

Cynthia Guiten, 69, has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed on Dec. 1st in a car accident while crossing 5th Street in Coronado.

The deadly collision occurred at an unknown time in the 1000 block of 5th Street, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner report.

Police reported the woman was attempting to cross 5th Street when an eastbound Chevrolet SUV struck her in the roadway. The driver stopped the vehicle and called 911 for help.

Paramedics rushed the injured woman to Scripps Mercy Hospital where she later died at 7:51 p.m. the same night, the coroner said. She was later identified by the coroner as Cynthia Guiten on its website.

The Coronado Police Department is heading up the investigation into liability for the fatal pedestrian accident.
