Cristian Aranda Jr. Killed in Oxnard Crash
Cristian Aranda Jr., 21, of Port Hueneme, has been identified as the man who was fatally struck by a car after stopping to help the victims of a car crash in Oxnard on Saturday night.
At around 11:10 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a car crash on the southbound Pacific Coast Highway near Naumann Road.
Police say a 34-year-old Ventura man was driving a Volkswagen Golf north on PCH when he drifted into the opposite lanes and collided with an oncoming Nissan Sentra operated by 44-year-old Scott Tenzer.
Scott was pronounced dead at the accident scene. A passenger in the Nissan, 48-year-old Natalie Stafford, was taken to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
About five minutes after the two-vehicle crash, Cristian Aranda Jr., 21, of Port Hueneme, stopped at the scene to render aid and was struck by a southbound Scion FR-S driven by a 28-year-old Oxnard man.
Cristian Aranda Jr. died at the accident scene, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The driver of the Golf suffered minor injuries in the accident.
The driver of the Scion was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
