Woman, 48, Identified as Crash Victim

Cassandra Basgall, 48, of Torrance, died in a Redondo Beach car accident Monday night at Artesia Boulevard and Ringe Lane.

A second driver is suspected of being impaired and faces DUI and possible vehicular manslaughter charges, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.

The traffic accident occurred around 6:40 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18th between the two motorists, according to the Daily Breeze. The driver of the black SUV also collided with a light pole across the street from a Chevron gas station. The smaller black car had all over damage and came to rest in front of the Pita Cafe Mediterranean Grill.

The Redondo Beach Police Department sent officers to the scene to investigate the fatal crash.

Cassandra Basgall was driving one of the vehicles and died at the scene. The second driver was transported to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Redondo Beach Police Traffic Unit.
