Carol Walker Injured Following East Sonora Crash

Carol Walker was hospitalized after a car crash on Tuolumne Road in East Sonora.

The California Highway Patrol identified the 75-year-old Jamestown woman as the victim in the wreck which occurred on Monday.

The incident happened when Carol Walker was driving a Nissan Versailles south on Tuolumne Road in East Sonora. At the same time, a 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup was going north.

For an unknown reason, the pickup truck made a left turn into the path of the Nissan. CHP said in the process, the cars collided head-on near the Mono Way intersection.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and extricated Carol Walker from the wreckage. She and the driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel took them to the Adventist Health Sonora for treatment. Meanwhile, CHP closed the turn lane from eastbound Mono onto southbound Tuolumne for about an hour following the wreck.
